Here Comes the Sun

July is here and the Heat is ON!

I provide lots of Vitamin D

"Ways to cool off"

Whether you are entertaining or just want to rehydrate, grab a nice refreshing drink!

Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade

Go for a dip in the pool!

Don't forget the Sunscreen!

Remember a few tips to surviving the summer heat :

Wear loose fitting clothing, preferably of a light color.
Combat dehydration by drinking plenty of water and other refreshing drinks.
Instead of cooking hot meals, try small frequent "cold" meals.
If you don't have air conditioning, try to spend some of your day in a public library or other public space that is cool.
Don't forget to check on the elderly and pets to make sure they stay cool and safe.

  6. Smart tips for surviving the summer heat! I am so grateful for Air Conditioning! I don't know how folks survived without it and, to think, it wasn't around less than 100 years ago! Thanks for posting.

  7. Oh yeah - Petite Hermine's post about carrying an umbrella is also a great idea, if you have to go out in the sun. I call it portable shade - and it can be as much as 20 degrees cooler in the shade. One more idea - we have found that on those super hot days when the AC cannot keep the house cool, turning the sprinklers on on the west side of the house makes a BIG difference. Of course, that might be a problem for city folks if there is rationing.

  14. You'll need your umbrella while in your pool around here between 10 and 4. Way hot and too much glare.

  15. Unique Cozy Treasures - Thanks for the tips! It's been soooo hot here in the Midwest this summer and with No rain. I think I need to write some summer heat tips for pets in my dog blog. I don't understand why so many people are unaware that dogs get really overheated and need to get in out of the extreme heat. Even having a fan, shade and water available seems a no-brainer to me. :)
